Time for food.

It has been an absolutely gorgeous day here in Florida. I decided to emboss a lot of backgrounds this morning and spend the afternoon on the porch adding color to them. Such a relaxing time listening to the birds and watching the wild turkeys in the pasture. The Sandhill Crane is on her nest again. I hope the baby survives this year. Her nest is right in the middle of the pond. I don't think a fox will venture out to it. We've had more rain this spring so they are a little more protected. Such an enjoyable day and now we will be off to my mothers to see my Sister and her husband who are visiting from Ohio.
So with one of my backgrounds I put together a card for the challenge at Speedy the Cats Friends. Use food was the theme. I embossed the strawberries from Flourishes with Gold EP and colored them in with distressed inks and a water brush. Then sponged around the image and cut out with a Nestabilities oval. The background was stamped with Versa Mark. Embossed with Gold EP and sponged with distressed inks.

Martha Stewart punch border laced with gold ribbon and edged with gold ink finish it off.

Back to business

After a whirlwind visit with my oldest son and his family I am finally catching up on things. Finished up my swaps and started in on the challenges. This week on Speedy the Cats Friends you were to use Black and White with a splash of one color and add Piercing. Piercing is something I don't do hardly at all so went right to work. I made the the card itself white and used a leaf stamp from Marks Finest papers. Then I just started grabbing scraps until I found the combination I liked and here's my card.

I actually made this one first for the challenge and then realized it wasn't Black and White. Don't have any idea what I was thinking other than trying this pleated technique I saw at Amazing Paper Grace.

This Clown Image is from I Brake for Stamps. He can be found in the Rick St. Dennis line. The poor guy was on a pink card and then a red card and then finally ended up on this rust colored one with a background made with marbles. It is for a swap.

We had a great time with my son and family. Went to the State Fair here in Florida. All the boys rode in a helicopter.

Then another day we went to Wonder Works in Orlando. Its a Science center type place but in the evening they have this Magician dinner show and it was awesome. Spent our evenings Wii bowling and listening to the chatter of a 5 year old. Oh my goodness I had forgotten how little ones are. We are back to peacefulness for now. In 3 weeks my daughter, grand daughter and great grand daughter will be here. A baby in the house for the first time in a long long time and a 5 generation picture to be taken.

Easter Bonnet

This week at Speedy the Cats Friends he challenge was to use self made flowers. I love this little bunny image from I Brake for Stamps and knew she needed flowers on her hat. I colored her with Prisma Pencils and Gamsol.

Paper Flowers

When I saw this technique on Splitcoasters I knew I had to give it a try. I have all kinds of silk and paper flowers I don't use because I just don't like them. I made several cards but I liked this one the best.

I think I have found a way to use these flowers up. :O)

Easter will be here before you know it and I've had this piece of background that I had made that was perfect. Pink, purple, yellow & gold. I have looked at it many time thinking how much I liked it and then when I finally used it I ended up covering most of it up. Wish I knew how I made it but don't remember. I'm sure it was a smoosh technique though.

The little chicks are from Stampendous.
